Four American Painted Slide Lid Boxes, 19th Century - Four American Painted Slide Lid Boxes, 19th Century Comprising two red-painted dovetailed boxes; a blue-painted dovetailed box; and a faux grain painted box with nailed construction. Each having rectangular chamfered sliding lids with fingers catches. (4) Dimensions: Height of smallest 2 1/4in; width 9 1/4in; depth 6 3/4in; Height of largest 4 3/4in; width 12in; depth 8in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Each box is structurally sound. Retaining untouched and worn surfaces. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, and losses commensurate with age and use. Three boxes have losses along top edge. The largest red-painted box has a pieced-in repair along the top edge.
