New England Red-Painted Mule Chest, Circa 1800 - A New England Red-Painted Mule Chest, Circa 1800 The hinged rectangular top with applied molded edge above three false drawers over two genuine long drawers, raise on bracket feet with integral base molding. Dimensions: Height 46in; width 37 3/4in; depth 20in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Structurally sound. The brass hardware with darkening and toning overall. Retaining a later red-painted surface, traces of earlier painted surfaces.
