Diminutive American Slate Gray-Painted Six Board Chest, 18th Century - A Diminutive American Slate Gray-Painted Pine Six Board Chest, 18th Century The cleated rectangular top with chamfered molded edge, enclosing an open box with nailed construction. Dimensions:  Height 16in; width 24 1/2in; depth 12in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Structurally sound. Originally having snipe hinges, now with later iron hinges. Retaining a very old re-paint. Heavy marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, and surface scratches overall. Lacking lock and key.
