Two American Country Painted Hanging Cupboards, 19th Century - An American Country Red-Painted Hanging Single-Door Cupboard, 19th Century Fitted with single hinged paneled door. Together with a similar blue-painted softwood hanging cupboard. (2) Dimensions: Height of red cupboard 23 3/4in; width 22in; depth 8in; Height of blue cupboard 31 1/4in; width 22in; depth 6 3/4in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Each cabinet is structurally sound. The red cabinet is retaining an old grungy, dry and darkened surface. The blue cabinet with heavy wear, losses and make-do repairs throughout. Each with general marks, wear, abrasions, scuffs and surface scratches.
