Federal Red-Painted Tavern Table, Circa 1800 - A Federal Red-Painted Tavern Table, Circa 1800 The rectangular single board overhanging top with breadboard ends above a deep frieze, fitted with a thumb molded dovetailed drawer, raised on square tapered legs. Mortise-and-tenon construction throughout. Dimensions: Height 27 1/4in; width 43in; depth 29 3/4in. Provenance: From the Dorothea & Tom Buckner Estate. Dotty (Dorothea) and Tom Buckner began collecting Early American painted primitive furniture and accessories in 1979 and over the next 22 years they were regular buyers from a number of respected Bucks County, Pennsylvania antique dealers. Condition: Structurally sound. Retaining an old painted surface. The top with heavy wear, age cracks, shrinkage and staining throughout. General marks, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches throughout. The brass hardware appears to be original.
