Pennsylvania Queen Anne Walnut Blanket, Second Quarter 18th Century - A Pennsylvania Queen Anne Walnut Blanket Chest, Second Quarter 18th Century The rectangular top with breadboard ends and applied moldings, having iron strap hinges, enclosing a dovetail-constructed box over two thumb-molded and dovetailed drawers, raised on turned walnut bun feet. Tulip poplar and pine secondary woods. The drawer bottoms fastened with rosehead nails.  Dimensions: Height 26 3/4in; width 51 1/4in; depth 19 3/4in. Provenance: From a Bucks County Collection. Condition: Retaining a warm surface and color. Typical shrinkage and age cracks. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches. There is an old patch to the front of chest where the locking mechanism would sit behind (no lock). The brass hardware is later replacements, there are visible ghost marks from earlier hardware and a secondary sets of holes to drawer fronts. The turned feet appear to be old replacements. The front left and rear left feet need to be glued tight, and the left side base molding need to be properly re glued / nailed tight. No keys.
