Thirty-Eight Star American Flag Commemorating Colorado Statehood, 1876-1890 - A Thirty-Eight Star American Flag Commemorating Colorado Statehood, 1876-1890 With thirty-eight appliqued cotton stars, hand sewn to a wool canton, configured of five horizontal rows of 7/8/8/8/7. The field consists of thirteen red and white alternating machine sewn stripes Dimensions: Dimensions of flag approximately 58 3/4 x 38 1/2in; Frame 43 1/2 x 63 1/2in. Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection. Footnote: With Colorado's admission into the Union in 1876 during the Centennial celebration, the 38-star flag became official on July 4th, 1877. Condition: Mounted with small stitches along the edges in an ebonized wood frame beneath plexiglass. Not examined out of the frame. Heavy wear, staining, discolorations and small losses throughout. There appears to be a small patches repair or reinforcement to the hoist end.
