Four Philadelphia Chippendale Carved Mahogany Ribbon-Back Dining Chairs - A Set of Three Philadelphia Chippendale Carved Mahogany Ribbon-Back Dining Chairs, Late 18th Century The shaped crest rail above pierced ribbon-backs and shaped stiles, joining a trapezoidal slip-seat, raised on straight legs with inner chamfering and joined by stretchers,  the side rails having through tenons and pinned into the raked back legs. The set each stamped to the back seat rails 'I', 'II' and 'III'. Together with a similar carved ribbon-back side chair. (4) Dimensions: Height 38 1/4in; width 21 1/4in; depth of seat 15 3/4in; seat height 18in. Condition: Each chair is structurally sound. Retaining an old dry and dark surface. Glue blocks lacking to several chairs. Each with age cracks and splits to top of legs/corners and minor repaired reinforcements. The single chair with a replaced central stretcher. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, scuffs, surface scratches and small losses.
