Two Painted WIndsor Child's Chairs, American, 19th Century - Two Painted WIndsor Child's Chairs, American, 19th Century Comprising a bowback armchair with shaped seat and turned legs, and a bamboo-turned side chair with tablet-top crest Dimensions : 17 3/4 in. wide, 13 1/2 in. wide, 31 3/4 in. high, seat height 12 1/4 in. (the armchair); 15 in. wide, 13 1/2 in. wide, 27 1/4 in. high, seat height 13 1/2 in. (the side chair) Condition: Both comprised of mixed woods with later paint decoration. The armchair with replaced break to left hand hold. Rubbing, wear and loss to paint decoration. Scratches and wear to seat. The underside of seat inscribed ”Property of Susan G. Duval” and with incised notation ”SCHS/ F-371”, possibly for Schuylkill County Historical Society. The side chair with rubbing and wear to stretcher. Other nicks, marks and scratches, partially obscured with later paint.
