(framed)   Provenance : From a Philadelphia collection.   Mary Green (1817-1869) was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and married Dr. Samuel Carey (1797-1864) in 1856.   Condition: Later wax lining.  The canvas with heavy crazing and craquelure, with a few scattered chips.  Later varnish apparent under UV light.  The giltwood frame with scattered chips and losses to gesso and gilding.  With plaque identifying artist and sitter.
