Continental School, c. 1830-1850, Portrait of a Gentleman with Glasses - Continental School, c. 1830-1850, Portrait of a Gentleman with Glasses   oil on board; painted in an oval depicting a seated gentleman half-length with silver hair and glasses and in black dress   Dimensions : 5 1/8 in. x 4 in. (sight); 8 1/2 in. x 7 1/4. (framed)   Provenance : From a Philadelphia collection. Condition: The back of the board inscribed ”Alberto”.  With some frame abrasion along edges.  Minor craquelure to paint at right shoulder.  No apparent restoration under UV light.  The giltwood frame with gilt-metal oval inset and with minimal wear.
