A Painted Pine Sea Chest, Probably New England, 19th Century - A Painted Pine Sea Chest, Probably New England, 19th Century   With applied base molding and an old dark red/black painted surface; later rope handles.   Dimensions : 38 in. wide, 16 1/2 in. deep, 19 in. high   Provenance : From an Ohio collection. Condition: Lacking key.  Brass escutcheon later.  Strap hinges probably original.  Applied metal brackets to corners.  Loss to molding at lid on proper right front corner and rear left.  General scratches and expected wear.  Rope handles later, as stated in the cataloguing.
