A Connecticut Chippendale Cherrywood Bookcase Cupboard, c. 1790 - A Connecticut Chippendale Cherrywood Bookcase Cupboard, c. 1790 In two parts, each with canted quarter columns and lamb's tongue termini; the upper case with applied dentil and greek key cornice above two glazed doors opening to reveal an interior fitted with shelves and shaped separators; the bottom with four graduated long drawers above a rope-turned apron and ball and claw front feet and ogee-bracket rear feet. Dimensions : 42 in. wide, 19 1/4 in. deep, 80 in. high Provenance : From an Ohio collection. Condition: Brasses replaced and with corresponding plugs partially covered by bail handles. General nicks, marks, scratches and evidence of wear. Shrinkage cracks to bottom left case sides with infill. Repaired crack to front right foot. Patch and repair to bottom left case side. Mid-moldings probably replaced.
