A Polychrome-Painted Preacher Vertebrae, English or American, Second Quarter 19th Century - A Polychrome-Painted Preacher Vertebrae, English or American, Second Quarter 19th Century   Dimensions : 6 in. wide, 5 in. deep, 5 1/4 in. high   These painted cow or horse vertebrae are thought to represent John Wesley (1703-1791), the English cleric and theologian and founder of the Methodist church.   Condition: Some chips to bone, particularly at top.  Some rubbing, wear and loss to paint decoration.
