(American School, 19th Century), Study on a European River - (American School, 19th Century), Study on a European River   Depicting a view of a river with buildings along the banks and a bridge and hills in the distance.   Pencil and gouache on paper, indistinctly signed ”Paul ...” lower left and with notations inscribed on the right and left edges.   Dimensions : 10 1/2 in. x 14 in. (sight); 17 in. x 20 1/2 in. (framed) Condition: Not examined outside frame.  The paper slipping in matting.  Toning and yellowing evident, with a couple spots of discoloration in the sky.  One small tear at bottom right corner and a tear to top near left corner.  The ebonized and parcel-gilt frame with some expected chips and losses.
