A North European Walnut and Marquetry-Inlaid Commode, Dated ”1768” - A North European Walnut and Marquetry-Inlaid Commode, Dated ”1768”   The serpentine-front case with three long drawers on bun feet, decorated with an inlaid ”A” in central cartouche above the date on the top and the sides each with a bird and branch within a lozenge.   Dimensions : 43 in. wide, 25 in. deep, 34 3/4 in. high   Provenance : From a Bucks County collection. Condition: The case stable, with evidence of old worming.  Cracking to veneer throughout, with some chips, losses, and repairs (One large panel of veneer replaced on left side at base).  The drawers later reinforced in interior and gliding balls on frame.  Gilt metal pulls and escutcheons possibly original.  Lacking key.
