INTERESTING LETTER TO SIR MOSES MONTEFIORE FROM LEADERS OF KOLLEL POLIN IN YERUSHALAYIM ACKNOWLEDGING HIS SUPPORT. 1851. Letter dated 1870 thanking for the sum of £503 received but complaining about delays in the transfer of funds through the bankers in Beirut, leading to a significant reduction in the funds actually received. The letter is signed by the leaders of Kollel Polin: Rabbi Fishel Levy, Rabbi Yosef Shaul HaLevy Landau, Rabbi David Tevye of Lomzhe, and a rare seal of the Kollel. Rabbi David Yellen – Tevye (1803-1863), leading Torah scholar, businessman and communal activist. Born in Lomzhe, where he was a successful businessman. In 1834, he closed his business and emigrated to Eretz Yisrael, and joined the Lithuanian community in Yerushalayim. Active in communal affairs, a founder of Yeshivas Etz Chaim and leading member of Kollel Polin – Warsaw. 1 side. 21.5 x 27 cm. Very good condition.
