RARE! RABBI EFRAYIM FISHEL HERSHKOWITZ, RABBI OF HOLLEIN. LETTER WRITTEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER WWII, TO RABBI TZVI HIRSH FERBER, RABBI OF KEHILAS CHESED VE’EMES IN LONDON. Rabbi Efrayim Fishel Hershkowitz; letter written immediately after WWII, asking Rabbi Ferber to send him his books Kerem Hatzvi, ‘I enjoyed the sweet words of your Kerem Hatzvi on Bereishis and Shemos before the terrible destruction that has befallen us - for our many sins...’. The letter is signed as ‘Av Beth Din of Ratzfert, currently here in Nyiregyhaza’. Rabbi Efrayim Fishel Hershkowitz (1922-2017), b. Munkacz, where he was an adherent of the Rebbe of Spinka and studied Torah diligently in his Beth Hamedrash. After WWII he served as Av Beth Din of Ratzfert and afterwards of Hollein in Austria. After immigrating to New York he was appointed Av Beth Din of the Sanz – Klausenburg community and was widely recognised as a leading rabbinical scholar and halachic authority. 1 side. 15 x 21 cm.
