SOMLYO COMMUNITY CONTROVERSY. RABBI AVRAHAM FRANKEL – PRESIDENT OF FEDERATION OF HUNGARIAN ORTHODOX JEWISH COMMUNITIES, LETTER TO RABBI SHLOMO ZALMAN EHRENREICH , RABBI OF SOMLYO. Letter dated 1912, addressed to the Rabbi of Somlyo ‘regarding the dismissal of the shochet’. The letter is written in veiled terms and the writer mentions his wish that the matter should not become public and that his name should not be mentioned. Rabbi Avraham Frankel (1860-1937), a disciple of the Shevet Sofer of Pressburg. Leading member of the Budapest orthodox Jewish community. Founder of the Budapest Chevra Shas in 1893, and appointed President of the Federation of Hungarian Orthodox Jewish Communities in 1905. President of Kollel Shomrei Hachomos. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich (1863-1944), grandson and disciple of Rabbi Avraham Yehuda Schwartz – author of Kol Aryeh, Rabbi of Szikso (1888), Csaba (1892) and Somlyo (1899) where he headed a large Yeshiva and was greatly respected. Author of Lechem Shlomo and 30 unpublished manuscripts - lost after his murder in the Holocaust. 2 sides. 13 x 17 cm. Very good condition.
