MOVING LETTER SUPPORTING FUNDRAISING MISSION OF RABBI CHAIM MODAI AFTER 1760 EARTHQUAKE. Very rare printed broadside containing letter written by the Pekidei Tzfas officers of Tzfas] in Constantinople and by the Rabbis of Constantinople, in support of fundraising mission of Rabbi Chaim Modai after the 1760 earthquake, describing the state of the refugees living in Acco and the debts they owed to the Arabs. Printed in Constantinople in 1762 and sent to the Modena community in Italy. Signed by the Pekidei Tzfas in Constantinople: Yaakov Zogana, Moshe Bechar Yaakov, Baruch Zogana, Yaakov Bonfil, Yosef Yehuda and Yaakov Ashkenazi, and by the following Rabbis of Constantinople: Rabbi Avraham b. R. Yehuda Meyuchas, Rabbi Rafael Yitzchak Yerushalmi and Rabbi Shlomo b. R. Chaim Alfandari. Yaari reproduced a similar letter (p. 452), sent to the Pisa community.
