Unused Tickets 1893 Columbian Expo (12) - The Columbian Exposition was held in Chicago from May 1, 1893 through October 30, 1893. Intended to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus discovering the New World, the fair also showcased Chicago's rise from the ashes of the great Chicago fire. Here were have six general admission ”Admit The Bearer” tickets good for entry any day from May 1, 1893, through October 30, 1893. Each of the six tickets features a different historical figure on the face including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, Handel, Christopher Columbus, and an Indian Chief. There are also six tickets to Chicago Day, October 9, 1893. ”Chicago Day” is notable for setting a record for attendance at an outdoor event when over 750,000 people flooded the fairgrounds. All tickets were printed by the American Bank Note Company. All tickets appear to be original and unused. All tickets exhibit just the slightest bit of wear.
