Garrett -Shot Billy the Kid Signed Mining Stock - Pat Garrett signed Capital Stock certificate (#61) dated 12 December 1899 for 200 shares in The Alabama Gold and Copper Mining Company of Jarilla, New Mexico. Pat Garrett was serving as sheriff of Lincoln County, New Mexico in 1881 when he shot and killed Billy the Kid. The secretary of the company has signed at bottom - P.F. Garrett. The purchaser (D.M. Goodrich) has signed on the back. The president of the company (I. M. LLewellyn) has also signed. Certificate measures approximately 10-3/8” x 8-1/8”. There is an approximate 3/8” tear on the right margin. The metal foil seal of the company is at lower left.
