Trifold card featuring embossed with ”2000” and ”2001” with a printing of the Carlos Enriquez artwork ”Paisaje Criollo”. Fidel Castro has signed below his pre-printed name. Card measures 6.5” x 8.25” when folded. Includes two white envelopes, the outer of which is addressed ”Sr. George Ryan Gobernador del Estado de Illinois”. This comes in a padded envelope with the handwritten note ”Gov: This is your card from Castro via Fernando to Joe H to me.” Some light staining on the outer envelope. In 1999, George Ryan, Governor of Illinois, became the first sitting US governor to visit Cuba in 40 years.
