Bidspirit auction | A Set of Four French

A Set of Four French ”Sabine Type” Stamps, Used, Circa 1978 - A set of four used French postage stamps, known as ”Sabine Type, ” dated circa 1978. Each stamp features a classical female bust in profile, likely representing Marianne, with a draped headdress. The designs are consistent across all four stamps, varying only in color and denomination. The denominations are 0.30 (red), 2.20 (red), 2.00 (green), and 0.50 (purple). Each stamp is marked ”FRANCE” at the top and ”POSTES” at the bottom. The 2.20 franc stamp (top right) also explicitly states ”REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE” at the bottom. All stamps have visible black postal cancellation marks, partially obscuring the images and text; the cancellation on the 2.20 franc stamp clearly includes the location ”SEINE ET OISE.” The stamps are printed on paper with perforated edges.
