Three Used Belgian Postage Stamps, 1922, Featuring Rampant Lion and Profile Portrait - This lot comprises three used Belgian postage stamps, perforated and engraved on paper, affixed to a fragment of a cover or album page. The upper left stamp is purple, featuring a heraldic lion rampant, and marked ”1 F” (1 Franc) with ”BELGIQUE BELGIE” at the bottom. The adjacent upper right and lower right stamps form a vertical pair, both in black and white, depicting a profile portrait of a man (probably King Albert I), marked ”6 F 50” (6 Francs 50 centimes) and ”BELGIQUE” vertically along the sides, with the small initials ”S.H.E.” A partial circular postmark, dated ”20.10.22” (October 20, 1922) and identifying ”BRUXELLES” (Brussels), covers portions of the lower stamps and the underlying paper fragment. The paper fragment also bears the handwritten pencil inscription ”M.A.”
