Vintage Industrial Bench-top Hollow Chisel Mortiser on Timber Stand - A vintage industrial bench-top hollow chisel mortiser, constructed primarily from cast iron with a grey-green painted finish. The machine is designed for woodworking to create square or rectangular mortise joints. It features a heavy cast metal head assembly operated by a long vertical lever handle with a spherical grip. The head is mounted to a substantial vertical column, which incorporates a rack and pinion mechanism for vertical travel. The work table is equipped with a screw-clamp assembly and a lateral fence for securing timber workpieces. Movement of the table is controlled by a large, four-spoke cast iron handwheel located on the left side, alongside a smaller secondary adjustment wheel. The entire unit is mounted to a bespoke, heavy-duty wooden stand made from thick timber sections, currently situated on a standard wooden pallet. A rectangular metal identification plate is fixed to the front of the main head assembly; however, the characters are not legible due to surface wear and lighting. An electric motor is mounted to the rear of the head assembly, with associated wiring present.
