The Holy Bible. Folio Family Edition, mid-to-late 19th century. - A Victorian-era folio family Bible bound in heavily embossed dark brown leather over thick boards. The front cover is decorated with a central gilt-stamped diamond cartouche containing the words HOLY BIBLE in a serif font, surrounded by ornate blind-stamped geometric and cruciform motifs. The binding features decorative brass furniture including two corner guards on the left side and two hinged brass clasps attached to the fore-edge of the front board. The text block is of significant thickness, consisting of many hundreds of pages, typical of the domestic illustrated bibles produced in the United Kingdom during the mid-to-late 19th century.
