A PAIR OF CHINESE NANKING CARGO IMARI BOWLS, 18TH CENTURY, WITH BOOK. Rounded bowls raised on a straight foot decorated with peonies and rockwork in underglaze blue and iron red. Each with Christie's lot stickers to base from The Nanking Cargo sale. 15cm diam. Together with a book: The Geldermalsen History and Porcelain, by C.J.A Jorg, published 1986. The wreck of the Geldermalsen, a Dutch East Indiaman carrying tea, porcelain and gold bound for Batavia, which went down on the Admiral Stellingwerf reef, off Bintan Island, near Indonesia, in January 1752.
