A FINE CHINESE EIGHTEEN SCHOLARS BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BOTTLE VASE, QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722). Elegantly potted and finely decorated with a continuous scene of scholars practicing the Four Scholarly Accomplishments of playing the guqin, playing weiqi, calligraphy and appreciating artwork below a separate scene of ladies on clouds, male figures and phoenix. Key fret band at the rim with double underglaze blue rings to the base. 31.5cm tall. Provenance: Property of George Duncombe Hunt (1869-1953), once held at his private estate at The Old Rectory, Bathampton, Bath from 1922. The vase was acquired in the early 20th century, thence by descent.
