WWI-WWII 1914 BRITISH SMLE MK. 3 LEE-ENFIELD - A British 1914 SMLE Mk. 3 Lee-Enfield rifle chambered in .303 British. The rifle was manufactured by London Small Arms Co. in 1914, shows British government (e.g., broad arrow) proofing, inspection, and service marks, with all matching numbers and London Small Arms marks on visible parts. However, the barrel serial was not checked, and may have been rebarreled for WWII or post-war service as was common during factory refurbishment. In some places, the WWI-era British marks have been overprinted by Australian ones and ”FTR” and ”MA/51” stamps were added, indicating later refurbishment at Lithgow, Australia in 1951, potentially for service during the Korean War. The serial number is O2553.
