GEORGE DE GROAT SIGNED ARTIST PROOF ETCHINGS - Collection of four signed artist proof etchings by listed artist, George H. De Groat (CA, NJ, 1917 - 1995). Art measures 25” h x 18” w, 20” x 15”, 20” x 18” and 15” x 18.5”.  Artist bio: De Groat was an American painter, printmaker, sculptor, and educator known for blending figurative imagery with abstract color in a style he called “Chromatic Expressionism.” Educated at the Newark School of Fine & Industrial Arts and institutions in Detroit, he later taught at Otis Art Institute (as Assistant Dean), Art Center College of Design, and others. He was Artist-in-Residence at the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art in 1976 and received a Ford Foundation Grant for his innovative work. Based in Big Sur from the 1960s onward, De Groat exhibited widely and is represented in notable collections including those of Ira Gershwin, Edward G. Robinson, Ford Motor Company, and the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art.
