PAIR OF LARGE SALT GLAZED FIGURAL STONEWARE STEINS: S. P. GERZ & A. J. THEWALT - A pair of salt glazed with blue cobalt figural stoneware steins in generous 3 L and 4 L sizes with pewter lids. The 3 L stein is a West Germany reproduction from an original 1834 pouring stein mold by A. J. Thewalt as #86. The 4 L stein is an antique S. P. Gerz #660 ”Hunting Dog and Stags” in limited color inscribed with ”Sicher hand, die Augen offen, gut gezielt ist halb getroffen.” (Steady hand, the eyes open, well aimed is halfway to a hit.).
