STEAMSHIP ”VIRGINIAN” FRAMED PHOTOGRAPH - A photograph of the steamship ”Virginian” built in 1904 by Alexander Stephen & Sons (Glasgow, Scotland) for the Allan Line. The frame measures approximately 18.5” H x 32.5” W x 1” D.  The RMS Virginian was a pioneering steam-turbine ocean liner that later served as a World War I armed merchant cruiser and a notable World War II repatriation mercy ship. On April 15, 1912, the Virginian received the Titanic's distress call and steamed toward the site before learning the RMS Carpathia was closer.
