COUNTRY DESK-AND-BOOKCASE - Probably southern Ohio, mid-19th century, CHERRY and poplar (not walnut as originally catalogued). Two-piece, the upper section with two eight-pane doors, the lower section with a slant lid (the interior with cubbies) and two paneled doors, all on turned feet. 85.75” high, 42” wide, 25.5” deep. Provenance: a Gallipolis, Ohio collection. Condition: Original finish, hardware, and glass (two panes cracked), some wear and minor losses. UPDATE: the finish may not be original, but is old and has a good surface.
