MINIATURE GRAIN-PAINTED BLANKET CHEST - Pennsylvania, dated 1902, poplar. Turned feet, original grain paint. Inscription on underside reads: Barbara B. Bucher, made by L.S. Hauck, 1902. 5.5” high, 9.25” wide, 5.25” deep. Barbara B. Bucher was born Oct. 29, 1879, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to Christian Risser Bucher (1844-1920) and Annie Hess Bomberger (1843-1901). Lemon (sometimes Lemmon, Limon, or Leaman) Sweigart Hauck (1862-1929) was living just two houses away from Henry Risser Bucher (1861-1945), Barbara's uncle and the younger brother of her father, in the 1900 census, which also lists him as a laborer.
