A crib coverlet in red, gold, and blue with a compass and roses design, three sides bordered with roosters over swags and a row of flowers, corner block signed and dated ”SAMUEL MUNDWYLER SENECA COUNTY OHIO 1846”. 35” by 33”. Provenance: The Virginia Gunn Collection, Wooster, Ohio. Coverlets bearing two different spellings of Mundwyler/Mundwiler are known. He was born in 1821 and produced coverlets dating 1845-1859.
