OHIO TALL CASE CLOCK - Probably Fairfield County, c. 1840, cherry and poplar. Broken-arch pediment with carved rosettes and full columns, and the base with inlaid quarter fans, all on turned feet. The German movement retains its original colorful painted dial. Retains weights and a pendulum. 103” high. The back of the movement includes several early notations, including a red signature on the back of the dial plate, an illegible ink signature, a pencil signature ”P. McIntosh 1884,” and a label for Philemon W. Bininger, jeweler, in Lancaster, Ohio in the late 19th century (side note: Philemon died in 1893 after accidentally drinking muratic acid).
