OHIO POTTERY DOG - Possibly Muskingum County, Ohio, 1st half-20th century. Nearly identical in form to the seated mastifs made in Crooksville/Roseville, and made of the same buff-colored clay, but solid cast rather than slip cast, with a textured brown glaze. It is likely from the same mold, or from a mold made from a Crooksville/Roseville dog. 8” high. See also lot 53 for one of the Crooksville/Roseville mastiffs. Provenance: a West Virginia collection.
