CHRISTMAS CRAZY QUILT - American, 1885, silk and velvet. A heavily embroidered crazy quilt with handwork flowers and other botanicals, chains, butterflies, birds, timepieces, and kittens. A dove carries a banner reading ”Merry Xmas 1885.” Another piece bears the initials IID. One piece bears a hand-painted portrait of a lady in a pink dress and white bonnet. With burgundy border and turquoise braid and backing. 57” square. Provenance: from an old Pennsylvania family. PLEASE NOTE OUR SHIPPING PROCESS.
