DATED FAN QUILT TOP - Possibly Nebraska, 1898-99, mixed fabrics. A fan quilt top composed of multicolor silks and velvets in a grid. Some embroidery work, including the inscription ”1898 and 1899.” Reused materials include packaging labels, including one for ”Pentang” and another reading ”Canfield, Hatter and Furrier, 405 South 15th Street, Range Block, Omaha Nebraska.” Hand-pieced and embroidered. 51” long, 43” wide. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
