CHIMNEY SWEEP PATCHWORK QUILTS - American, 19th century, cotton. Two quilts: a patchwork quilt in 'chimney sweep' pattern composed of printed browns, reds, pinks, and blues on light pink ground, with a sawtooth border. Hand-pieced and quilted. 78” long, 70” wide; together with a modified nine-patch composed of white, green, pink, yellow, brown, and red printed fabrics on a pink printed ground. Hand- and machine-stitched. 90” long, 65” wide. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio; Chimney Sweep routine found in Wooster, 1978.
