JACQUARD COVERLET, PROB. OHIO - Probably Ohio, mid-19th century. A jacquard coverlet in red, blue, and white. Centerfield with clovers surrounded by strawberries, offset by leaf crosses. Borders contain eagles and eight-point stars. Corner block contains a rooster in a crescent. All known signed coverlets in this pattern come from Ohio. One with the rooster corner block is attributed to the Zoar Woolen Mill. Fringed on three sides. In two pieces, center seam not connected. 78” long, each side 34” wide (68” total) w/o fringe. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
