TWO SIGNED PENNSYLVANIA COVERLETS - York Co. and Berks Co., Pennsylvania, 1844 and 1830s. Two jacquard coverlets, the first in gold, pink, indigo, and white. Centerfield features footed trays of flowers. Borders with grapevine. Corner blocks signed ”A KUMP HANO-VER 1844.” Fringed on one end with short fringe on sides, single piece. 37” long, 34” wide w/o fringe. Andrew Kump (1811-1868) wove coverlets in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania 1834-1853; together with a coverlet in red, indigo, green, and white. Centerfield with boxes of double rose and blossoms, offset by blossoms, leaves and snowflakes. Side borders with leaves and flowers between Greek key bands. Bottom border with vases containing two large roses. Corner blocks inscribed ”C Lochman Hamburg.” Without centerseam. Fringed on three sides. 91” long, 84” wide w/o fringe.
