FANCY JACQUARD COVERLETS - American, mid-19th century. Two jacquard coverlets: the first in indigo and white. Centerfield contains rows of fancy geometric boxes with plumes and crosses, offset by smaller plumed crosses. Border contains blossoms and leaves, doubled on sides. Matching corner blocks, unsigned. Fringed on three sides with center seam. 86” long, 76” wide w/o fringe; together with a jacquard coverlet in purple, red (coral or crimson), indigo, and white. The centerfield contains blossoms in medallions with fine coral- or dill-like edges, offset with blossoms and radial leaves, with purple dotted clusters of five blossoms as filler. Border all the way around, consisting of undulating floral vine within a ruffled-looking edge. Floral corner blocks without signature. Fringed on four sides, with center seam. 78” long, 72” wide.
