OHIO JACQUARD COVERLET, SIGNED D L MYERS, 1844 - Clark Co., Ohio, 1844. A jacquard coverlet in red, green, orange, indigo, and white. Centerfield with double roses and blossom medallion. Borders with swag garlands. Corner blocks signed ”MADE BY D L MYERS BETHEL TOWNSHIP FOR SOPHRINIA ALDRICH 1844.” Fringed on two sides, with center seam. Daniel Myers wove coverlets in Bethel Twp, Clark Co., Ohio from 1838-1858. Sophronia Aldridge (1825?1894) was born in Clark County. She purchased this coverlet when she was about 19, and two years later married local farmer Isaac Overpeck. They had one daughter, Mary. Sophrina and Isaac died just months apart, and are buried together in Springfield's Ferncliff Cemetery. 94” long, 75” wide w/o fringe.
