OHIO JACQUARD COVERLET, SIGNED HENRY WOLF, 1856 - Ohio, 1856. Two halves of a jacquard coverlet in red, blue, indigo, and white. Centerfield with checkerboard diamonds. Border with roses. Corner block signed ”WOVEN BY H WOLF OHIO AD 1856 FOR ELIZABETH EHRET.” Henry Wolf was weaving in Richland County, Ohio c. 1852-58. Fringe on one side. Elizabeth Ehret (1834-1920) was born to German and Swiss immigrant parents and grew up on a farm in Richland County, OH. In 1862, she married neighboring farmer Samuel Ziegler. They had one son, Jarius. Each 78” long, 35.5” wide w/o fringe. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
