JACQUARD COVERLETS ATTRIB. FREDERICK HESSE, OHIO - American, mid-19th century. Two jacquard coverlets, both possibly by Frederick Hesse, who was weaving in Somerset, Perry Co., Ohio, 1843-1852: the first, in indigo and white. Centerfield has large, detailed roses and rose buds offset with blossoms. Side borders have grapevines, bottom border has curling stems and blossoms. Corner blocks have fan-like trademarks. Fringed on three sides, with center seam. 83” long, 72” wide w/o fringe; together with a coverlet in in red, green, indigo and white.
