JACQUARD COVERLETS - American, mid-19th century, wool and cotton. Two jacquard coverlets: the first, in indigo and white. Centerfield features rows of radiating medallions with a central star flower, offset by abstract foliate crosses. Borders have potted roses. Corner blocks have sunburst trademarks. Fringed on three sides, with center seam. 83” long, 65” wide w/o fringe; together with a coverlet in teal, red, indigo, and white. Centerfield features unusual design with rows of medallions consisting of floral crosses in botanical wreaths. Crosses feature hearts and a central blossom in a box. Medallions offset by floral wreaths around an 8-point star medallion. Borders contain flowers and leaves, connected at corner blocks by large vase. Fringed on three sides, with center seam. 89” long, 61” wide w/o fringe. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
