EARLY MANSFIELD, OHIO PERCUSSION RIFLE - Marked on the barrel flat for John Rickets (1815-1895). Curly walnut stock and a 32” octagonal barrel, about 40 cal., locked signed ”RB.” Overall length 49”. According to the census and city directories, Rickets worked as a gunsmith in Mansfield by 1850 and through 1890. See Hutslar, Ohio Gunsmiths and Allied Tradesmen, v. IV, pp. 146-7.
