A portrait of a lady in a white lace dress, sitting on a red couch with Classical motifs behind her. Signed G. C. Eichbaum by her left arm. A label on the back identifies her as Mary Gentry Cloney (Missouri, 1844-1886). She was born to a very wealthy and prominent family in Sedalia and married her second husband, Thomas Cloney, in 1875. She had two sons. The youngest became the vice president of Quaker Oats Co. Framed. 19.5” high, 15.5” wide (sight), 30” high, 25.5” wide (overall). Provenance: a West Virginia collection.
